admins should learn to respect artists...

Tue May 26, 2009, 12:09 AM
or at least have the common sense to shut up.

I'm upset.

Not the usual, let's rant in a little corner, piss around and who gives a damm upset. Not the "let's leave dA" en-masse upset. But a more justified, "subs not being renewed till something changes" upset. Why?

Most won't understand. But it has to be typed. It's not easy being green, to quote Kermit. When you do nude photography, either as a model or a photog, you KNOW lots of people will be stupid - goes with the territory. So yes, you develop a thicker skin. However, to continue being effective (i.e. CREATIVE), you have to shave that callous off. Some days, it works, others it does not. To read, "nice ass" or something like that by someone who can't do what you do, has to be wrong at some level in a "supposed" "artistic" "community".

But that is NOT what has me upset. It does bother me, but that's part of the game. What I will NOT sit still for is for an Admin who is not photog or model to say that it's not her role to "handhold" artists, and that comments like that are not a big deal. Particularly after spending the better part of an hour looking at their gallery, and seeing nothing but manipulations, collaborations, and whatnot, and not a SINGLE nude MADE BY HER OR OF HER. If someone ever made such a comment about one of her photos, i'm sure she would probably throw such a hissy fit (judging from her reaction to comments about her comment) that the offender would be banned.

So, I'll say its time to remind the Admins that this is OUR site, they just have SOME priviliges, because WE let them have it. Why, because without our art, they would be a piddly little web design outfit. There was a RESPECT campaign a couple months back. Perhaps one demanding respect from Admins is called for.
